Eastern Mongolian Tour – 12 days

Eastern Mongolia is known well where is the birth place of Great Chinggis Khaa(Genghis Khan). Genghis Khan and his descendants ruled the world in XIII century. So when you travel in Eastern part of Mongolia , tour is exploring through historical routes of Genghis Khan. You will travel 2100kms for 12 days through Eastern part of Mongolia.

ITINERARY

Day 1st Baga gazriin chuluu

Early morning start to drive to Baga Gazariin Chuluu which is located Middle Gobi . This rock formation is 15 km long and 10 km wide extensive granite rock formations and surrounded by steppe and semi-desert habitat. Over 20 kinds of medical herbs and many species of animals.In the formation, you can see the ruin of 18th centure temple.

Day 3rd Ikh Nart Natural Reserve

The Ikh Nart Nature Reserve is 66,000 hectares nature reserve area which locates in Dornogobi aimag (province) of Mongolia. The reserve covers two soums (counties) – Dalanjargal and Airag that jointly manage the reserve.
Ikh Nart harbors a wide diversity of plant (flora) and animal (fauna) species, including 33 mammals, 6 reptiles, 125 birds, and over 200 plants.
In the late 1990s, an international team of biologists began studying the plants and animals of Ikh Nart in conjunction with the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and local soum (county) government that administers the reserve. The studies aim to understanding the community ecology of the region and improve conservation management in the reserve.

Day 5th Gun Galuut

Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve has a great diversity of ecosystem even though it has a comparatively small area. The complex of high mountains, steppes , rivers, lakes and wetlands are kept in their original condition. You can see vast steppes seeming to meet the sky, the imposing mountains of Baits and Berkh, the homeland of rare creatures, Ikh-Gun and Ayaga lakes, a paradise of birds, Kherlen is the longest river of Mongolia and the Tsengiin Burd wetland, where water and wetland birds lay their eggs. Day 7th UGLUGCHIIN KHEREM

Ugluch Wall (Uglugchiin kherem) is located in south west of Batshireet soum and 8-10 km from Bayan River and Uglugch River. It lies in a valley of Daichin Mountain and was built with skillfully piled stones without any clays and mud. It is about 3 kilometers long and the height of the wall was 2.5 – 4.5 meters. When a Soviet archeologist S.Kondratiev measured in 1926, but its highest point is 3.1 meters and 2, 5 meters wide now. A tall rock inside the wall is called as “Horse handle of Chinggis Khaan” by local people. (B/L/D – tent camping)

Day 9th DADAL

It is said in the “ The Secret history of the Mongols “, Chinggis Khaan was born in a place called Deluun Boldog that is located in Dadal Sum. Deluun Boldog is considered the birthplace of Chinggis Khaan . In 1962, Khentii province officials created a monument to the memory of Chinggis Khaan for his 800th birthday anniversary . Khajuu Bulag, the spring where Chinggis was washed after he was born, is not far from the monument where you can
drink from the same spring he did.

Day 11th KHENTII PROVINCIAL CENTER

Khentii Aimag is named for the Khentii Mountains that dominate the north west of this province – they form one of the three main mountain ranges of Mongolia. Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area is contiguous with Gorkhi-Terelj National Park and is an area of great natural beauty lying between the Daurian steppes and the Siberian taiga. Altitudinal variation at the site is significant, leading to the development of different habitats, including boreal forest (taiga), foreststeppe, steppe and tundra (on mountain peaks). The area is rich in rivers and streams, including tributaries of the Onon, Kherlen and Tuul Rivers. Many riparian forests are distributed along rivers, while deciduous and coniferous forests occupy large areas at high elevations.(B/L/D- stay provincial hotel)

Day 2nd Ikh gazriin chuluu

Ikh Gazriin chuluu locates Gurvansaikhan sum of Middle gobi province, which is granite rocks. May it is interesting for you to see standing a peak of 1706m high rock in Gobi . they spread out from the west to east covering about 20kms area. You can spend time amazing land formation.

Day 4th Ikh Nart Natural Reserve

Ikh Nart represents one of the last strong-holds for the globally threatened Argali Sheep – the largest mountain sheep in the world.
In recent years, the argali project expanded to include Siberian Ibex, which live side-by-side with Argali in the reserve. The project aims to understand the fundamental behaviour and ecology of Argali and Ibex and develop a conservation management program for both species in the reserve.
Today we will hike on the reserved area and see the Siberian Ibex and Argali (wild sheep)

Day 6th BALDAN BREEVEN KHIID

Baldan Bereeven was established in 1654 and grew to be the second biggest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia in 1776 and home of more 5000 monks. The monastery and temple complex were destroyed by the political purges in 1937 and for over 60 years, it was forbidden to visit and almost forgotten. Now it has been mostly restored and about 10 monks chanting and practicing Buddhism there. (B/L/D – tent camping)

Day 8th DADAL

Dadal is located in the south of the huge Onon-Balj National Park. People has known this town which is Chinggis Khaan’s birth place. One of ethnic group which is Buriat population lives in Dadal. (B/L/D – stay tourist camp)

Day 10th TOSON KHULASTAI

Toson Khulstai is one of national park in the eastern steppe area. This place is most popular for gazelles birth area. The steppe has very high grasslands ,so gazelles are coming to here when day will be birth.

Day 12th ULAANBAATAR

Goin back to Ulaanbaatar and on the way visiting “Chonjin Boldog” which is Great Khaan’s complex.
We’ll transfer you to your accommodation in UB and the rest of the day will be yours to create your own experience. you to explore the urban side of Mongolian life in downtown Ulaan Baatar. (B/L- hotel which is your own chose)
